After a 32year absence, rowing returned to the picturesque Lake Karapiro. With the attendance of 50 nations and over 66000 spectators, Austin's definately had their work cut out. Feeding the atheletes for 21 days was no mean feat, serving up around 17,000 meals, the rowers consumed 5 tonnes of potatoes, 4 tonnes of rice and 10,000 boiled eggs to name a few of the ingredients!. 200 VIPs were catered for daily during race week, which included The Govenor General of New Zealand and the Prime Minister, John Key. Feedback from Guests and representatives of Rowing New Zealand has been overwhelmingly positive and Austin's look forward to many more such events in the future.
